FAQ’s
What should I expect from my first session at Clarity Point Healthcare?
Your first session will entail a discussion about your chief complaint, your health history, your lifestyle and diet. You will receive an acupuncture treatment during the first meeting. After the discussion, and before the acupuncture treatment, it is ensured you feel completely comfortable with the process and see that it is a safe and sterile medical practice. Plan for your first session to run about an hour to an hour and a half. After the acupuncture session we discuss course of treatment and administering herbal medicine.
Plan for follow up treatments to take about 45 minutes to an hour.
Is the insertion of the needles painful?
Not particularly. Acupuncture needles are much thinner than a hypodermic needle. In fact, most are so thin that they can be tied into a knot.
The needles used are unlike any needles you have experienced in the past. Needles we are accustomed to are hypodermic which are hollow made to cut through muscle to either extract blood or administer medicine or fluids. Acupuncture needles completely solid, thus pushing away, muscle, nerves and blood vessels.
Some needle insertions can cause a feeling of pressure, warmth, tingling but rarely pain.
How quickly can I expect to see results?
It is only natural to ask this question but it is a difficult one to answer without knowing why you might be seeking acupuncture and herbal medicine. Acupuncture is a bit like exercise; it has a cumulative effect. After one time back at the gym, you may feel great but most likely have not reached your fitness goal. Herbal medicine is a bit like diet, if taken every day you will begin to feel and see the effects in the first few weeks.
Do you treat conditions beyond issues regarding Women’s Health and Fertility?
Absolutely! It is most common in our society to think of acupuncture for pain related issues so it is very often we address issues such as back, shoulder and knee pain among many other musculo-skeletal issues. In addition, we commonly address sleep, digestive and emotional disorders. Please see here for a full list of conditions addressed.
